With snow staying white and deep all winter, McGrath is a winter wonderland for Nordic activities. From a relaxing walk to an intensive sport session, Nordic activities are appropriate for all ages and all physical conditions. Thus, we are happy to initiate curious beginners as well as guide adventurous explorers.

Our Nordic center maintains various cross-country ski equipment:

Classic cross-country skis for in-town and other local trails.

Backcountry ski touring for all-terrain skis. Explore alone or take a guided tour to the surrounding village of Takotna. You might need our wilderness safety briefing first.

Nordic walk

Take a pair of nordic poles and hike along the riverside trail of the Kuskokwim river. Or grab a pair of snowshoes, cross the river and explore a little bit further!
